Cyberbasics — Article series
A series of security articles for developers, written without jargon.
About the series
The "cyberbasics" series is a collection of articles dedicated to the fundamentals of software security, aimed at developers who are not security specialists, startups, and SMEs.
The goal: build a solid, pragmatic security culture, free of unnecessary jargon — by sharing real-world lessons and concrete actions.
Episodes
Episode 1 — Threat landscape
Anyone who has ever tried to implement security improvements knows that you first need to get buy-in — from managers, the executive team, colleagues — before anything can actually happen. That is why it makes sense to start by talking about threats.
Before explaining why we need to protect ourselves, we need to understand what we are protecting against. This first episode maps the current threat landscape using ANSSI and ENISA reports, identifies attacker categories and their motivations, and offers a profile-based reading — which I hope will help readers better identify themselves as stakeholders in cybersecurity. Profiles covered: individual developer, SaaS startup, SME, agency and IT services firm — to answer the question: does this risk actually apply to me?
